What different types of automated guided vehicle are available? How much do these cost? How do they navigate? Are they safe? Dive into these topics and more with our in-depth AGV guide.
AGVs are often used in the movement of raw materials such as metal, chemicals, plastic or paper within industrial settings. Replacing conveyors, they can facilitate the seamless transfer of these materials from receiving docks to storage areas or directly to production lines. This capability ensures a consistent and reliable supply of raw materials to production areas, eliminating delays and enhancing efficiency.
AMRs use a sophisticated set of sensors, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and compute for path planning to interpret and navigate through their environment, untethered from wired power. Because AMRs are equipped with cameras and sensors, if they experience an unexpected obstacle while navigating their environments, such as a fallen box or a crowd of people, they will use a navigation technique like collision avoidance to slow, stop, or reroute their path around the object and then continue with their task.
In order to provide our clients with expert technical solutions and the best pricing, we are always negotiating with our suppliers.
